There is no denying that the Covid-19 pandemic has been tough on lots of us for many different reasons. Even though there have been some definite benefits to spending more time at home, for many of us it has meant a drop in our fitness levels. Between the temptation to snack, the guidelines to stay at home and the closure of gyms, finding the time and motivation to work out has been tough. That said, the latter half of 2021 looks set to be a much better year, so why not plan now how you can improve your health and fitness levels? Set Yourself Some Goals
Rather than just aimlessly set out to improve your fitness levels, why not set some actual goals? These don’t have to be related to weight loss or other numbers, but having a goal definitely helps you to stay motivated. There are some really some goals you can set – getting off the bus a couple of stops early a few times a week or booking some sessions with a Personal Trainer for example. How Are You Going to Work Out? If you want to improve your fitness then there is no denying that exercise is going to be a big part of this. Thankfully there are different ways that you can incorporate exercise into your lifestyle, so finding a way to fit it in with any routine should not be too much of a struggle. Pegden’s PT & Fitness offer a number of Personal Training session types – we can come to you, you can come to us or we can even host a virtual fitness session via Zoom for you. Look at the Bigger Picture As much as exercise is important, if you’re really looking at health then you need to consider the bigger picture too. Lots of us are spending more time at home than ever; when was the last time you went for a walk at lunchtime or spent some time on self-care? Throughout restrictions and lockdown, many people’s mental health was affected and we need to make sure we are taking care of ourselves. Try to make sure you get out for some fresh air and sunshine every day; even if it is cold, you’ll really feel the benefit. Look at what foods you’re using to nourish your body and make sure you’re giving it everything it needs. Get Others Involved Everyone’s fitness journey is unique; a Personal Trainer will work with each individual to ensure that the plan they’re following suits them. That said, if you have someone you know that also wants to increase their fitness or improve their health why not suggest working together? You can swap stories, share recipes and generally help to keep each other motivated. Often, having someone that we feel accountable to helps with keeping us motivated and on track to reaching our goals. It is well worth having someone on board to help you with all of this if you have someone close to you that you can work with. Your comment will be posted after it is approved.
